About Alba

Alba is a hamlet just outside Canazei (2 km) along the road to the Fedaia Pass at the feet of the Colac (2715 m) and the Gran Vernel Massif (3210 km). The Ciampac ski area is linked directly to the Buffaure ski area (Pozza di Fassa) and, since the construction of the new cable-car Alba-Col dei Rossi, is connected to the ski area Belvedere and to the world-famous ski tour Sellaronda. The name Alba means ‘rocky wall’, which refers to the rocky Dolèda ridge which overlooks the town and is characterised by its light colour. The inhabitants of Alba are called ‘Roc’ since legend has it that, being extremely possessive of their properties, they fenced off their properties with wooden fences bound together with woven wicker laces, the famous ‘roc’.
